Kathy: Paramore – ‘Misery Business’
Yes, it’s adolescent. But this song has all the ingredients of a great pop punk record: It’s fast, it’s catchy, it’s got kick-ass guitar lines, and Hayley is a vocal powerhouse. I love the lyrics too: ‘There’s a million other girls who do it just like you…well, I refuse, I refuse, I refuse!’. Girl power, emo style.
Maria: Noisettes – Wild Young Hearts’
Noisettes certainly fall into the more facile, pop side of indie, but they still make very upbeat, positive music that is perfectly conductive for a happy mood.
Rosie: The Velvet Underground – ‘I’m Sticking With You’
I simply love this song; it always makes me smile.
Katie: Scissor Sisters – ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’
Cheesy as a bag of wotists dipped in cheddar fondue, but I defy anyone not to dance to this toe tapper and dancing is happy times.
Olivia: Summer Camp – ‘I Want You’
There are so many songs I play when I’m happy, but this song in particular just does something to me. I have no idea what. When it kicks in at around 2 minutes, it’s amazing. Everyone needs this song in their life. Song of the summer, probably song of the year (again, I’ll probably change my mind but for now….)
Emily: The Pretenders – ‘Message of Love’
This is my favorite Pretenders track – I will always listen to this track when I am in a good mood as I grew up listening to this track when my mother was in a good mood!
Annette: Betty and the Werewolves – ‘Euston Station’
This song absolutely speaks for itself.
Coming tomorrow: Day 22 – A Song That You Listen To When You’re Sad
Actually agree with a few of these, even Scissor Sisters! Glad I stumbled on this blog while searching for Friends (and failing – they’re very hard to look for!) Keep it up
