Former Nouvelle Vague collaborator Phoebe Killdeer has revealed the forthcoming release of her own new album.
Recorded along with a shadowy trio of male musicians – the Short Straws in question – after two years spent honing her sound on the road, Innerquake is a powerful melange of blues and soul, with a little noisy rock thrown in for good measure. The girls are…’s readers may immediately recognise Killdeer’s voice not only from Nouvelle Vague’s easy-listening versions of punk classics, but from her beguiling turn on Basement Jaxx track ‘Tonight’.
Innerquake is released on April 2 on Kwaidan Records. Phoebe Killdeer & The Short Straws will also be playing a show at London’s Dingwalls on March 29 to support the album – tickets are on sale now.
