All-female a cappella quartet Mycale will be making a rare UK appearance next week, and we have a pair of tickets to give away for the show.
Mycale – comprised of Basya Schechter, Ayelet Rose Gottlieb, Sofia Rei and Malika Zarra – were formed in 2009 after legendary jazz saxophonist John Zorn brought the women together to voice songs for his Masada project. The artists have since won acclaim for their versions of Zorn-penned tracks, a heady mix of African, Argentinian, French, traditional Jewish and jazz influences.
Mycale will be playing their debut UK show as part of Georgia Mancio’s ReVoice! Festival (more details about that here from Mancio herself…) at London’s Pizza Express Jazz Club on October 18, and we can get you in for free if you’re lucky enough to win our competition.
All you have to do is name one of the other artists that will be performing at the ReVoice! Festival, and send your answer, name and contact details to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5pm on October 17.
If, however, you’d rather know what you’re getting yourself into before entering, then have a listen to Mycale perform ‘Rumiel’ live in Jerusalem below:
